NFL Poll: Should Lane Kiffin Quit as Head Coach of the Raiders?

September 30, 2008 | PermaLink | TrackBack

Oakland RaidersLast week we asked our users whether or not Lane Kiffin should quit before Al Davis could fire him: 64% voted “No”. This became a moot question today when it was announced that the Raiders fired their head coach.

Kiffin’s firing comes a day after Scott Linehan was fired as head coach of the St. Louis Rams. Both teams were former Los Angeles franchises.

First Bye Week

September 25, 2008 | PermaLink | TrackBack

Did you notice that there are only 13 games this week? Week Four is the first regularly scheduled bye week for six teams. Detroit, Indianapolis, Miami, New England, New York (Giants) and Seattle all have the week off.

These six teams will automatically be excluded from picking for NFL Survivor pools. Players participating in NFL Confidence pools should rank their picks between 1 and 13 this week.

Week Four Spreads

Week Four Spreads are available.

The Philadelphia vs. Chicago spread was briefly off the board on account of Brian Westbrook’s injury status (listed as day-to-day) as was this week’s Monday Night Football game between Baltimore and Pittsburgh (Willie Parker is out).

One of the intriguing lines this week is Tampa Bay favored by 1 point at home. The line opened with the Bucs at a FG advantage but has moved steadily down. Are bettors are not worried about injured CB Al Harris? Or did Tampa Bay instill confidence with the OT upset at Solider Field last week?

Week Three Recap

September 23, 2008 | PermaLink | TrackBack

There were many close-calls in Week Three with two games going into OT and several more being decided by late field goals. There were 15 home favorites but only 9 covered the spread. It was a tough week in NFL Survivor pools with many optimistic NE fans now done for the season.

NFL Poll: Worst Week Two Performance?

September 22, 2008 | PermaLink | TrackBack

DeSean Jackson Player Profile on NFL.comEd Hochuli shouldn’t feel so bad. When we polled our users about the worst play of Week Two, his blown call in the Chargers / Broncos game barely edged DeSean Jackson’s premature TD celebration on MNF.

For those of you who missed it, DeSean dropped the ball before crossing into the end zone. The TD was challenged and overruled. Southwest should commission him for one of their “Wanna get away?” commercials.

Week Three Spreads

Week Three Spreads are up on the site.

There are few teams are getting lots of points this week due to solid performances in the first two weeks: Buffalo (-9.0), San Francisco (-4.0) and New England (-12.5). Yep, there’s that double-digit Patriots spread some thought was a thing of the past (they do host the Dolphins though).

Week Two Recap

Lots of late in the game drama in Week Two with half of the games decided in the final minutes. Many pools needed the Monday Night Football tie-breaker to crown a weekly champ.

NFL Poll: Biggest disappointment from Week One?

September 15, 2008 | PermaLink | TrackBack

Tom Brady, QB - New England PatriotsOver half of respondents (53%) said that the injury to New England Patriot’s QB Tom Brady was the biggest disappointment from Week One. This goes to show that while many non-New Englanders may hate Giselle’s boy-toy while he’s on the field, few want to see him sidelined by an injury.

San Diego’s last second loss to Carolina was the second biggest disappointment with 31% of votes.
